Acrylic on canvas
23x23cm, Framed
I am a Northern Beaches based artist inspired by the stunning natural beauty on my doorstep. I am drawn to paint the moments where the coastal landscape and human experience intersect. Working primarily from elevated and aerial perspectives, I use multi-layered acrylic paint and expressive brushwork to capture the changing textures of water, whether it’s a crashing wave or serene ocean pool. I particularly enjoy adding small traces of human presence within the landscape to introduce a sense of scale, memory and everyday connection to place.
I wanted to capture the vibrant energy of the Fairy Bower Pool, where the manmade geometry of the pool meets the organic textures of the surrounding rock and ocean.
As the day heats up, the sunbathers scattered along the edge will feel the pull towards the cool relief of the pool. I hope the painting conveys the contrasts of the coastal environment - order and chaos, heat and cool, shelter and exposure. This painting aims to celebrate the simple moments of a Sydney summer and the enduring pull of the water.
