I am an American-born, Sydney-based painter exploring emotion through colour, form and symbolism. My work draws on memory, connection, transition and the complexities of letting go, creating atmospheric landscapes that are as much emotional spaces as physical ones. I hold a BFA in Fashion Design and spent 25 years working in fashion in New York and Sydney, designing prints for Calvin Klein and clothing for Gap, Victoria’s Secret and J.Crew. This experience developed a strong instinct for colour, composition, pattern and form.
Working from my home studio, I paint intuitively, beginning with dripping, scribbling, scraping and scrubbing the surface before adding layers of oil paint. Earlier marks remain partially visible beneath the surface, creating a sense of depth and reflecting the way memories and moments accumulate, shift and fade. Clouds are a recurring theme within my work. Fluid and transient, they represent change and the passage of time, while also evoking comfort, safety and connection. Inspired by music, poetry and personal experience, I create paintings that invite reflection and personal interpretation. For me, painting is a visual meditation—a way of making visible emotions that are often difficult to articulate.
