Suzanne Barrett is an Australian coastal landscape artist who captures the ever-changing beauty of the ocean through evocative, layered seascapes. With a BA in Fine Art and a background in art education, Suzanne works primarily in acrylics and oils to explore the shifting dialogue between movement and stillness. Her intuitive process utilises soft washes and textured palette knife work to blur the line between realism and abstraction. Inspired by the restorative power of the salt air and rhythmic tides, Suzanne’s work invites viewers to find tranquility and a deep, emotional connection to the sea.
Starburst Sky is inspired by the dramatic beauty of a coastal sky as sunlight breaks through shifting clouds and spills across the ocean. Turquoise blues, luminous whites, soft pinks and warm sandy tones create a sense of light, energy and optimism, while the darker horizon provides a moment of calm and distance.
Painted expressively with a palette knife, layers of acrylic build a richly textured surface, capturing the movement of waves, wind and changing light. Part of Suzanne Barrett’s Horizon series, the work evokes the feeling of standing at the water’s edge — looking towards the horizon, breathing in the sea air and feeling a sense of freedom and possibility.
Acrylic on canvas, it has been finished with a satin varnish for protection and has been professionally framed in a beautiful oak frame, ready to hang. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
