Oil on linen
46x50cm
Originally trained in oil painting (contemporary visual arts) in New Zealand, Vanessa is now based in Sydney, Australia. She finds inspiration in the beauty of nature and light. Artistically, Vanessa is drawn to the grounded compositions of Morandi and the tonal colours of Monet.
These paintings are based on photos taken on Croagh Patrick, a historic pilgrimage site located in Ireland. What feels stationary is in truth an inevitable and relentless pilgrimage up a rugged mountain. A glance back reveals a path so long that mist obscures its beginning and fades from memory. The pilgrim’s progress is slow. Persevere.
