My paintings are about how pattern and colour shape the way we notice, and respond to, the everyday. I paint shared tables from careful angles, so the viewer feels seated among the meal rather than looking at it. The work draws on my Greek and Serbian heritage where long meals outdoors, family gatherings, and card games of xeri with my pappou and yiayia feature. Saturated colour and repeated forms catch the eye first; then the familiar comes through (tomatoes, olives, bread, wine), inviting a second look at the moments we often pass over. I'm interested in how a simple meal becomes an event, where memory forms in real time and everything feels a little romantic.
