This botanical composition pulls the viewer’s eye in a dramatic loop from bottom right, through centre left to top right, as the palm and flax forms stretch toward each other over moving fields of colour. The title “Pattern and entropy” and the repeating plant forms refer to the relentless schedules and chaos of family life with small children. No matter how hard you work at trying to stay on top of things, entropy wins on every level. Schedules unravel, your house gets messy, the plants grow and decay, and this stage of life passes far too quickly.
